A-levels
Our zoom-based classes cover the curriculae of popular subjects at A-level. We teach the Pearson-Edexcel International Advanced levels (IAL) in the subjects listed below. Our delivery envisages minimum class contact to allow students to take these widely accepted qualifications alongside their national secondary education programmes; they can be completed in one year (expedited course) or two years (standard course). Each A-level subject is taught by one 2-hour session per week over two years or by two 2-hour sessions per week in just one year. The International A-levels are certified by independent examinations which can be taken at many examination centres around the world. Teaching is done by Foundation College who have over 35 years experience in teaching A-levels and foundation courses that are accepted by British universities. A-levels are one of the most accepted qualifications for university admission not only in the UK but also in many European countries such as Holland, Germany, Italy, Ireland and Switzerland, as well as many American universities. For a full list of universities accepting the Pearson International A-levels see here.
We offer zoom-based one-year (accelerated) or two-year (standard) A-level courses in the following subjects:
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Economics
- Psychology
- Law
- Business
- English Literature
- Further Mathematics
- Art and Design
- Greek
- Information Technology
Our academic programmes run from mid-September to mid-May of each year. Classes are either 4:30-6:30 pm EET or 6:30-8:30 pm EET on specific weekdays according to the schedule. The actual class schedule is finalised in early September. You can see the current class schedule here.
Why do A-levels in one year?
Although typical A-level courses in schools run over two years, our one year option serves a number of purposes. First, A-levels are flexible. They are certified by examination only so there is no prescribed teaching time. International students often wish to supplement their national education by just one or two A-levels and they often wish to do so as soon as possible. In this case two years would be a long time to wait for certification especially if a student has completed their national secondary education. Second, many students who take A-levels on top of their national curriculae are high achievers who can successfully complete one or two A-levels in one year and get high grades. Third, students who have already completed one or two A-levels before they apply to university can strengthen their prospects of receiving an offer by featuring completed A-levels in their applications (otherwise they rely on predictions). Finally a number of students are looking for a revision or exam prep course and some are looking to improve their grades from previous sittings.
Exam-oriented teaching
What makes our A-level programme different from that of conventional schools is that we incorporate a lot of exam preparation by teaching past-paper sessions right up to exam time. We are not happy to merely complete the syllabus and set a couple of mock exams; we want our students to be as well prepared as possible for the exams.
Sample Classes
We want our students to be happy with the teaching they receive. While in most schools teaching is experienced only after students commit themselves to the school, we allow students to experience sample classes before committing themselves. These sample classes are zoom classes that we currently teach, so prospective students get a taste of the actual class rather than a "dressed-up" much-rehearsed demo class. Contact us to arrange for you to join a sample class with no obligation. Use the contact form and state "sample class" followed by the subject you want to taste. We will get back to you to let you know how to join a sample class.
Selection Test preparation programmes
Every summer we offer a five week UCAT preparation programme for those student who aspire to apply to medical schools in the UK. Classes are zoom-based and delivered by Foundation College between 1:00-5:00 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from about 20 June to 20 July.
Later in August we teach an IMAT prep course for candidates of the English-speaking medical degree course in Italy
Finally, in November we teach an LNAT prep course for specific Law schools in the UK.
